As you can now be fined more than a shop lifter for leaving your bin 4 inchs open,Contractors are sending our household waste to India,5000 miles;this is a bloody scandal,we are being told to separate our rubbish, pay as you bin is just around the cornerWHY is it to pay for are rubbish to be transported half way around the world.I know for a fact that Fridges in this county are tranported miles to be de gassed,as we all know the fridges now can be vented to air safely. Why because contractors are paid per fridge, per mile, for de gassing, they also get paid for said fridges in scrap.A win win situ. _________________ RAOC NOT FORGOTTEN |

Have you considered running for office or starting a petition, Willywills?
In my neighborhood, the trash service is contracted through the neighborhood association. Every three years the contract is either renewed or bids from other service providers are solicited. The entire neighborhood votes on who the contract will be entered into with and it’s a flat rate for each home. Each home has a recycling bin (streamlined process), regular trash bin and a yard clippings bin. Pick-up is once a week with all three bins at the curb. One of the waste sites that it is transported to locally wanted to expand the size of the landfill. Many local neighborhoods rallied their local politicians and put a stop to it. Some times the political process actually works. Something to consider, anyway. |

All good points Sara, the tender for Northampton has another 15 months to run,our Council has;nt a clue where half the recycling gets sent, because destinations are changed, for the best deal to the contractor. They the contractor, has to many back handers, they will change a good system of dispolsal for a bad one, simply to make more money.Or they implement a system that does;nt give them a reward, here i know they were offered a dispolsal system for batteries, months ago, they turned it down. They will only start to collect batteries at the end of this month.1000s of batteries have gone to landfill, when there was no need.Going back to the fridges i;ve been banging on to the council for months, fingers x i might have got some where with it. _________________ RAOC NOT FORGOTTEN |

Bang on the council door in numbers, Willywills! The more voices you can stir up in support of your position the greater the likelihood of being heard and subsequently change being implemented. Document the steps that you take as a group and then call the local media for some airtime. Politicians don’t like negative media attention, particularly if they are hoping to get reelected.

its a pity the public are not allowed to have all politicians of all partys investigated as to the money they have in all bank accounts, onshore and offshore, i should imagine the planning officers are probably the richest, but alas they are all tarred with the same brush so we will never know, ginger, |

So this is Y people Fly tipp in the UK, I was wondering when I was visiting my sister we had to refuel we was at a petrol station, It looked like it was buit in the middle of a RUBISH dump.
But the biggest problem lies by the producers the should cut down on the packing for a start and the shops should charge for the plastic bags.
And Bottles shold have a deposit on them.
Or take a portable crate, I do her in Holland and get the vege by the local farmers shop its fresher and NO plastic.
When My sister was her she put a milk carton in the Bin and I told her to make it Flat, it saves space as the only come once in the 2 weeks for rubbish and garden also.
Paper once in the Month normaly one the 3rd Friday. If you have large you can deliver it to the council they ask for your Postcode and if you live in thier area its Ok BUT if not you pay.
But I do agree if you steal you get a smaller fine than if the bin is too FULL
its a upturnd world.
One thing more our bins have to be put in groups of about 5-8 houses and the have to be all faceing the same way because in a couple of years its all done my machine NO workers at the back. _________________ ex RAF |

Your right in what you say, ranroz.Super market packageing has a lot to play in the waste we produce.I never buy meat from a super market, awhile back some of our super markets were caught repackageing meat and changeing the sell by date.Prepacked food stuffs are packaged in such a way as to hide imperfections, but our butchers etc have mostly gone now killed of by the big boys.I was stationed in Germany for many years, litter was rarely seen on the streets, they seem to be proud of their country, here litter everywhere. _________________ RAOC NOT FORGOTTEN |

Can you imagene HOW it is was in NAPLES with the heat and the RUBBISH
ARRRRg
Plus I herd that ONE of the BIGGEST Supermaket chains in the UK had RATS outside the RECIEVING BAY. Due to RUBBISH they did not clean UP. _________________ ex RAF |

DID YOU KNOW that when the EASTENDERS ends l. The POWER COMPANY's have to buy Electricaty from FRANCE because of the POWER Needed for the Kettel to make the TEA.
As Britain cant make enough to keep the supply UP
That was on a BBC Program BRITAN from ABOVE
Very interesting too. _________________ ex RAF

Dont think Eastenders have any Adverts do they cause they are BBC?, it is a pity they dont? it would mean les time watching the C*** they call drama?
I mean they are now featuring Paedophillia? anything to get the viewers in? I would not watch it if you paid me, and thankfully the wife has learned also. |
