we never had to buy our i d cards during the war they were free, if the govt want people to carry them they should be issued for free, that way less people will complain about them , ginger |

In Holland all people above 14 have to have a ID card so they can prove who they are if they are stopped.
we use the EUROPEAN ID CARD that you can use on travel to other EU Country's.
I even have to carry it to My work at the Airport or a Passort.
I have No problem with it
I have NOTHING TO HIDE.
YES we have to buy them also _________________ ex RAF

I have no problem with carrying an ID card either, i did it for long enough back in the early days, I think it would be an ideal way as you so rightly say of showing who you are? I have seen the Euro card and it is very compact. MY complaint is it being forced on us? and having to pay for it, In your case you have been brought up with this situation i should imagine? I am not sure? but hasnt the ID card been used in Holland etc for quite some time? it is not a new thing?

I for one will not be buying the card, have no trust in what the goverment will be putting on it. Apart from that the have a serious problem in getting data lost. _________________

I think eventually it will not be a case of "if you want one" but more YOU WILL carry one, even though you will have to pay for it yourself? If as suggested it is a combined driving licence, ID card etc etc, then it may save money? but I shall wait and see? mind I should think by the time this lot get their fingers out and get it up and running, i will be too old too give a monkey's? |

Post subject: ID Cards ???? |
|

I remember in the 50's my Father was up in arms that he had to fill a census form out, if I remember rightly this had to be done every 10 or 20 years. Maybe some one can correct me on this matter.
Anyway I never worried about as I was only a young boy at the time, but now you have to fill one in every year and thats the law.
What gets my goat up is the fact that today, you have Passports that have a bio chip in them, and all your information is stored on it, the moment you move your passport from the drawer it is picked up on a satilite some where in the heavens and you can be tracked with it in your pocket.
Then there are cards like Tesco's have, every one of these shop cards contain your information, the information that you gave without thinking about it when you applied for it, you loose it and it falls into the wrong hands your ID can be cloned.
So as far as ID cards are concerned its a no go if I have to pay for it!!! Give me it with only the information that I give them, or want to give them, thats fine, but to pay for it!!!!! No its another stealth tax.

An answer to both posts above, Yep I agree with you on all counts, but as Chris has so rightly said, if you apply for a store card you give information that is stored. so an ID card will I doubt have anyhting that they dont already know?
And as I said previously6 by the time they get it up and running, I will be in my dotage/ and it wonbt affect me that much anyway, I will certainly fight against it all the way and as for as long as possible |

There are a few of us about mate that will resist it, but I think all imigrants should have some form of tagging when they come here, at the end of the day as you say the Government departments have enough on us honest people, its the dishonest ones they need to concentrait on, christ they can even conect me to my frigging dust bin through the chip they have managed to put on it!!!! |
