How do you feel about the likes Of Charles etc becoming Colonels etc, without ever having donned a uniform in earnest, and displaying all those medals? |

I have NO objection to it and his son's do there part for the Armed Forces
They even visit men in Hedley Cort
As for HRH Prince Charles
He may NOT have seen action but then as 1st in line he has to be carefull but he did serve as capitain on a mine hunter HMS Bronington.
It just so happens that thier was no conflicts on during his time in the armed forces.
Did you know He and the Queen are Not to fly on the same aircraft
together because he is 1st in line.
Plus the roles he serves in the Armed Forces are as honary ROLE No actual power. eccept he is the Crown Prince. _________________ ex RAF |

I earneed mine? and whilst Charles did swerve as LIEUTENANT aboard a minesweeper, he certainly did not get into any conflict, Andrew I accept he did the Business I was asking what they had done to be able wear those rows of medals? |

5: Queen's Silver Jubilee medal
So MS why wern't all serving Members of HM forces awarded these two medals?
He was about 6 years of age when the queen was Crowned.
And he was about 30 years old when they celibrated the Silver Jubilee.
Just a question? You might have the answer!!!

I earned my Medals? the hard way, they were not given because of who I was related to? If he has medals on his chest that he deserves to wear , then so be it,
regards the Canadian decoration M<edal/ New Zealand decoration medal? if they are for decoration fair enough,
Knight of the garter I assume he earned that also?
Order of merit, GCB?? can you explain what he did to be awrared these?
Pleas note? i am happy enough if a person is awarded a medal for a specific purpose, but to flaunt rows and rows of medals, when you have done sod all to earn them, gets up my nose. When as Chris rightly says, others who probably deserve them dont?/ |

The Order Of Merit 1902-2002marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of this senior order of chivalry in the personal gift of the Queen and limited to 24 Ordinary Members,
Fair one
GCB
Members must "by their personal services to [the] crown or by the performance of public duties have merited ... royal favour
Another fair one
Queen's Service Order (New Zealand)
for valuable voluntary service to the community or meritorious and faithful services to the Crown
Once again Fair point
Queen's Coronation medal
The award of the medals was then at the discretion of the local government authority, who were free to decide who got a medal
Hmmmm shall we give one to the new prince????? oh go on then
Queen's Silver Jubilee medal
See above
Queen's Golden Jubilee medal
Awarded to personnel of the Regular, Reserve and Cadet forces who were in effective service on 6 February 2002, who had completed 5 full calendar years reckonable service and were properly enlisted on or before 7 February 1997.
Canadian forces decoration
given in HRH's case for long service as an honorary Colonel-in-Chief of some Canadian regiments.
NZ commemorative medal
Awarded only during 1990 to 3632 selected persons in recognition of the contribution they had made
Knight of Most Noble Order of the Garter
new members are theoretically elected by all the Companions but actually chosen by the Sovereign
And finally another fair one
Think that covers everything, sorry its been a long post |

Yeap get the point, but I only pointed out the two that I questioned, and in a round about way you have answered it in a very polite way, thank you, my opinion is that its "Bullshit" that he should wear them when in both cases in your words "ermmm yes we will give him one"!! No puns intended folks, just down to earth talking!!!!
I for one was there on the parade for the Silver Jubilee, and it was only the selected few that got it, and they were all brown nosing higher archy, and of course one or two of the lower ranks, and they are the ones that deserved it!!! All of the SNCO an Junior Ranks should have recieved it.
Dont forget this is only my opinion, I speak for nobody else. |

And like Chris this is just my opinion, I hate to see them laden with medals that are "granted" rather than earned |
